The North Carolina General Assembly last week overrode Gov. Roy Cooper’s veto of a trio of bills. One bans puberty blockers, gender surgery and other transition-related health care for minors. One forbids transgender women and girls from playing on female sports teams from middle school through college. Petra’s Bar – Located at 1919 Commonwealth Ave, started off as a gay bar but slowly, it has also become a popular spot among cis folks. The owners don’t care whether you’re trans, gay straight, bi, or anything else. Hattie’s Tap & Tavern – Located at The Plaza, known as a lesbian bar, but it’s a welcoming spot for all queer folks, especially trans women.
I am only thankful and I mean so thankful that this place exists and that the world gives us in the LGBT community a chance to demonstrate that we are equals and have something to offer this world that is Paramount to the success of humanity. No one should face barriers to getting the healthcare they need. We are also proud to report that provider participation has grown from our initial group of 13 providers to have included meeting participation to an average of 100 providers annually.
Charlotte Trans Health is a collective of multidisciplinary healthcare providers committed to gender affirming care through education, community outreach, consultation, and provision of services to the community. Through collaboration, peer education, and consultation, our members strive to increase access to care through enhanced trans-specialized clinical competency of individual healthcare providers and larger systems of care. Education on gender affirming care ranges from limited to non-existent in most clinical programs, thus our providers fill this gap to increase resources and reduce disparities in the Charlotte area. Providers on this list have previously confirmed that they provide trans-affirming care.
